I read your post. To survive in interstellar space you'd need several kilometers of shielding just to protect you from the cosmic rays. These objects aren't that big, so you're left with not much space to live in for many generations on end. Doesn't seem likely to me.
However, a seed bank could be plausible. Your system is dying, but you push out something worth saving before you all die. But I have serious doubts even a seed bank could last as long as required to cross the distance.
And anyway, I believe in the Rare Earth theory, so I don't think anything is even out there - except things like demons and angels.
